About Me: Ross Buchanan your driver/guide

Ross Buchanan
Ready for the trip of a lifetime? My name is Ross Buchanan and I’ll be your driver/guide for your unique tour around Scotland.

Biography: Born in Fife, I have lived on Unst in the Shetlands, Harris, Lewis and spent four years in Morayshire while in the RAF. I now live in Edinburgh with my civil partner.

I have a  Joint  MA(Hons) in English & Scottish Literature from Edinburgh University and PGDE (English) from Strathclyde University.

I have a deep knowledge and passion for the language, literature  and history of the diverse cultures that make up this beautiful small nation  which I am keen to share with you.

What makes these tours so interesting is the unique  flavour you add to them; whether you wish to go hunting, shooting, fishing or playing a round of golf at one of Scotland’s famous courses; or just enjoy getting out into the scenery;  I can arrange it it for you.

When I’m not guiding, my hobbies are skiing (at all five of Scotland’s resorts); painting and  hill walking. I am  a keen amateur genealogist  so if you’d like to trace your tree I can get you started.

A Black Kilt Tour is a very personal journey around Scotland where you can experience Scotland as a local. What you will come away with are memories that will last a lifetime.

People sometimes ask where I get bored driving the same roads. Sure I know the places where your jaw will drop at the awe inspiring scenery; but if you look, I'll be grinning from ear to ear that I am sharing this with you.

Whatever you’d like to do and the places you’d like to see I can take you or if you just want some more information check out the commonly asked questions or use the email form and I'll get back to you.
