Cromarty Black Isle

Northern Scotland: Easter Ross - Cromarty and the Black Isle

Dornoch Firth
moray firth dolphins
There are around 200 bottlenose Dolphins living in the Moray Firth and the best place to see them is the shingle beach beside the lighthouse at Chanonry Point, Cromarty, opposite Fort George near Inverness. Here the Moray Firth narrows and is a favourite spot for dolphins to find food. The Dolphins in Moray are the largest in the world,  possibly an adaptation to the cold temperature of the water. Harbour porpoises and even Minke whale are often seen at this point.
